(IRE-12) Coiled Filament Infrared Emitter (1um - 30 um), 8W IR Source

The IRE-12 is a coil filament based IR source with emissivity of approximately 0.8. It emits in the IR spectral region of 1μm to approximately 30μm. The model IRE-12 operates at 800°C @ 8 watts. However the emitter can be over powered to a higher temperature with a decrease in service life. It is appropriate for use in lab or field instrumentation due to its long life and stable properties. Please note this is only an IR emitter component and does not include a reflector or housing enclosure.
The radiating element is a coil of resistance wire which has a high emissivity in the infrared spectral region. The coil is supported on a grooved cylindrical substrate of alumina, resulting in the windings being electrically insulated from each other. This contributes to a more uniform radiating source.
Two reflectors are available. One is a parabolic reflector and the other is a elliptical reflector. We can provide collimating optics using an AR coated ZnSe lens, a sapphire lens or an aluminum parabolic reflector.
The IR emitter is not packaged in a housing with the reflector. It only comes in component form and the user needs to package it into a housing and provide electrical connection to the power supply. Should the constant voltage power supply or battery power supply be purchased, the socket harness for the IR emitter as well as corresponding cables are included. Nominal operating voltage: 6V at 1.8 amps.

The 100-9070 Broadband THz Mercury Arc Light Source housing is designed specifically for the SPS-300 series FTIRs, and as an upgrade to existing SPS-200 systems in need of a more stable and modern source.
Please note that this does not include power supply or igniter (150-9016 and 150-9041) which are required for operation. Additionally, if the lamp is going to be operated in a vacuum, it will need a water recirculator for cooling.
This product includes the housing and a single bulb. Additional replacement 75W Mercury bulbs are available at additional charge.

The Glow bar (Globar) is a typical infrared source for THz researcher. The heating element itself is very low cost, allowing researchers to use them without worry about replacing expensive bulbs or components. The majority of the price for this unit consists of the water cooling (required for vacuum operation), large reflector to efficiently collect the radiation, and housing designed to withstand the high level of vacuum required for THz operation.
This model is specifically designed to mount to the optional External Input Port of the SPS300. If you wish to use a completed Globar unit for your own applications, please speak with a Technical Support specialist.
Please note that this device requires water cooling to operate under vacuum and includes all the lines, but not the water recirculator itself. If purchased as part of a complete SPS300 system, it is included.
